THIBODAUX — This fall, Nicholls State University’s Office of Continuing Education will offer a certification course for aspiring personal trainers through World Instructor Training Schools (WITS).
A free information session on this upcoming course will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11 in 132 Peltier Hall on the Nicholls campus. The presentation will include a brief overview of the industry and professional trends, an overview of the study materials and a Q&A session.
WITS offers a unique live course with one-on-one training by qualified, experienced professionals. You’ll work face-to-face with your instructor throughout the nine-week program, and will have the opportunity to perform practical training in the Harold J. Callais Recreation Center on the Nicholls campus. Aspiring personal fitness trainers can use the course to get their certifications and go on to a career in the fitness industry. Professionals such as occupational therapists, massage therapists and athletic trainers can apply the course toward necessary continuing education units (CEU).
The course, which costs $749 per student, runs from Sept. 25 through Nov. 22. Classes will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and from noon-2 p.m. on Saturdays, with an exam held the final week. A 30-hour internship is required upon completion of the course.
