Ameen Art Gallery Presents Exhibit on Art Works Contributors

THIBODAUX, La. — Join the Nicholls State University Art Department as it celebrates the works of more than 25 artists who have given to students through Art Works.

The Ameen Art Gallery will feature the Friends of Art Works exhibit from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, Oct. 14-18. The gallery will host a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16. The gallery and reception are free and open to the public.

“Each year, these artists donate artwork to the Art Works fundraiser,” said Ross Jahnke, interim art department head. “This exhibit is our way of saying thank you to them.”

Art Works is the department’s annual fundraiser, which benefits students through scholarships, mini-grants and equipment. 

Since its inception in 2014, Art Works has funded more than $45,000 in scholarships and even more for grants that have helped more than 25 students host exhibits and attend conferences across the country. 

Held on April 2, the 2019 Art Works raised more than $39,000, topping last year’s record-setting $30,000. Art Works benefits students through scholarships, grants and equipment and technology upgrades. Since its inception in 2014, Art Works has funded more than $45,000 in scholarships and even more for grants that have helped more than 25 students host exhibits and attend conferences across the country.
