Nicholls Economics Professor Named Outstanding Educator

THIBODAUX, La. — The Southwestern Society of Economists named Dr. Shari Lawrence as their 2020 Outstanding Educator. 

Dr. Lawrence is a professor of finance and accounting who has taught at Nicholls since 2005. She received the award at the SSE annual conference held March 11-14 in San Antonio. The SSE is an affiliate of the Federation of Business Disciplines. 

“I have been a member of the Southwestern Society of Economics for 20 years and am honored to receive this award,” Dr. Lawrence says. 

Dr. Lawrence plays an active role in the organization. She has served as the SSE vice president and is an editor of the society’s journal, the Southwestern Economic Review. 

At Nicholls, she serves as a faculty advisor of the CFA Financial Analyst team, which has made the regional finals in five of the last nine years. 

The nonprofit Federation of Business Disciplines is dedicated to the advancement of business education and research. Founded in 1973, the organization includes 10 associations and over 1,000 professors.
