THIBODAUX, La. — Even though most of the Nicholls State University campus is working and studying from home, you might recognize a few faces standing outside of the Clarence James Jr. Alumni House.
The Nicholls Alumni Federation is celebrating the achievements of the 106th graduating class by posting yard signs featuring their graduation pictures.
Signs were created using cap and gown photos taken during the Spring Grad Expo. Alumni Director Katherine Mabile said her team generated the idea during a recent staff meeting. To create the signs, the Alumni Federation partnered with the Student Government Association and the Nicholls Office of University Marketing.
“These signs are our way to honor the Class of 2020,” Mabile said. “This class has proven strong in the face of adversity. They have proven that they can accomplish anything and everything they set their mind to do. I am proud and thankful to welcome them to the Nicholls alumni family.”
So far, the signs have been a big hit, with graduates coming from as far as four hours away to take pictures with themselves. To date, the Alumni Federation has produced more than 360 signs with more on the way. Mabile said they will distribute the signs to the students at a later date.
“This graduating class has had to overcome so much,” said Nicholls President Dr. Jay Clune. “Their perseverance through these trying times is a testament to their commitment to their education. I am glad that we can help them commemorate this achievement.”
For students who did not take a photo at Grad Expo and want to participate, send your cap and gown photo to alumniaffairs@nicholls.edu.
