Hurricane Francine closure update

THIBODAUX, La. – All of campus and most of our service region remain without power. Representatives from Entergy are still assessing but are unclear when electrical service will be restored. Assessment teams are working on campus to identify damage and begin remediation.

Due to these factors, Nicholls State University will remain closed through the weekend and reopen on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024. All classes and scheduled university events until then are canceled.

The campus community is asked not to return to campus until Monday, pending power restoration. Student residents should not return to campus before noon on Sunday, Sept. 15. Further instructions will be sent from Residential Living.

Essential employees who are needed tomorrow will be contacted by their supervisor. Any other faculty, staff or students who would like to volunteer on Friday to assist with cleanup across campus should arrive at the parking lot on the side of Ellender Memorial Library at 8 a.m. for instructions. Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring work gloves if you have them.

Please remain safe and we will send further messages as updates occur.
