Players to present Spoon River Anthology

THIBODAUX – The Nicholls Players, Nicholls State University’s acting troupe, will offer four on-campus performances this month of Spoon River Anthology – a play adapted from the poetry of Edgar Lee Masters by playwright Charles Aidman.

With live music, acting, dance and pantomime, the play features around 70 of Masters’ poems, ordered and dramatized to portray some of the United States’ chief historical periods – including the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, the influx of pioneers and immigrants, and the rise of industrialization.

Directed by Dr. Stanley Coleman, assistant professor of speech and theater, the Spoon River Anthology will be presented in Talbot Theatre at 7:30 p.m., October 16-18, and on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 3 p.m.

Priced at $10 for general admission and $5 for students with identification, tickets may be purchased at the door before each performance or reserved by calling (985) 448-4586.

Media representatives who would like to photograph the dress rehearsals for this play are invited to Talbot Theatre every day at 7:30 p.m. from Sunday, Oct. 12, to Wednesday, Oct. 15.
