The Parenting Student Task Force is proud to coordinate a unique commencement ceremony that honors both our resilient graduates and the families who supported them.

This special event provides an opportunity for graduating parents to walk across the stage with their children, celebrating a shared journey of dedication and triumph. It highlights a vibrant, resilient, and often overlooked segment of our student body, ensuring their children are recognized as a core part of their success.

Lactation spaces provide support for nursing parents on campus. Our goal is to provide an accessible space for nursing parents on campus, whether you are a faculty/staff member or a student.

Our room in University Health Services provides a private, quiet, clean space for parents to pump or to breastfeed their babies. The room is locked and equipped with an electrical outlet, a comfortable chair, a sink, and a small table.

Annual Parenting Student Graduation Celebration

The Parenting Student Task Force is proud to coordinate a unique commencement ceremony that honors both our resilient graduates and the families who supported them.

2026 Impact at a Glance

Our community showed up in a big way to celebrate our student parents:

  • 17 Graduating Students (13 Undergraduate / 4 Graduate)
  • 60 Family Members in Attendance (including children, parents, step-parents, and siblings)

Ceremony Highlights

  • Custom Cap Decorating: Children were given small graduation caps and a dedicated craft area to decorate them, proudly wearing their creations as they crossed the stage.
  • Personalized Tributes: Each parent submitted a personal statement read aloud as they were announced. These beautiful, meaningful tributes frequently spoke to their children being their ultimate inspiration, motivation, and strength.
  • Family-Focused Environment: A short, welcoming program designed to be kid-friendly, featuring delicious refreshments for all ages, a lively atmosphere, and dedicated photo opportunities to capture these unforgettable memories.

We would like to thank our sponsors and everyone who supported the Parenting Student Task Force during Give-N-Day:

  • Thrive on The Bayou
  • Start Corp
  • Nicholls Veterans

Thank you for investing in our students and making this memorable night possible!
