Nicholls breaks ‘beyond economic impact’

THIBODAUX – Nicholls State University is featured alongside its eight sister institutions in a University of Louisiana System publication issued this week titled “Beyond Economic Impact” – a companion publication to the system’s 2008-09 community and economic impact report.

The publication chronicles a day in the life of a Nicholls biology professor, features information about the Manning Passing Academy and the Nicholls geomatics program, and profiles the university’s workforce impact and service-learning initiatives. The report also details the new “Journal of Service-Learning in Higher Education,” a peer-reviewed publication for which Dr. Morris Coats, Nicholls professor of economics, serves as a section editor.

“This report takes the reader beyond simple economic numbers and statistics and presents more of the human side of the Nicholls experience – the accomplishments of our faculty, staff and community,” Dr. Stephen T. Hulbert, university president, said. “We are certainly proud of the many professional and academic achievements of our Nicholls family.”
