Bio:

John M Griffin, PhD, PE, is a petroleum engineer having 33 years of experience in drilling and completion work and academic education. He holds a Ph.D. from Louisiana State University, a masters of Mineral Engineering from the University of Alabama and a bachelors degree in geology from Emory University. He teaches at Nicholls State University, Thibodaux, LA in the Petroleum Technology program designed for students currently employed in the Gulf of Mexico petroleum industry. John is engaged as an expert witness in multiple oil and gas related incidents requiring forensic investigation and expert witness. He delivers webinars in his discipline and broadens the awareness of Nicholls State University through his many professional contacts. He has delivered industry classes to SPE members in Pittsburgh and Long Beach and to engineers employed at PDVSA in Venezuela. John is a professional member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) since 1979 and the American Association of Drilling Engineers (AADE) since 1990. He is past faculty advisor for student sections and student chapters for these organizations both here at Nicholls and previously at New Mexico Tech. He and then student, Mr. Brady Broussard, are the founding members of the AADE at Nicholls.
