THIBODAUX – Celebrate Caribbean cuisine Thursday, March 11, at the 13th annual Lafcadio Hearn Award Dinner and Distinguished Visiting Chef Series, presented by the John Folse Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University.

THIBODAUX – Having won first place for the third consecutive year at the South Central Regional San Pellegrino Almost Famous Chef Competition, the John Folse Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University is setting its sights on national acclaim.

Freshman Tim Cook, organ and piano major at Nicholls State University, won first place in the beginner’s category at the Clarence Dickinson Organ Festival, hosted by William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Saturday, Jan. 23.

THIBODAUX – The 2010 United Way campaign at Nicholls State University raised $15,720 among faculty and staff for community service efforts in south Louisiana – approximately $5,000 more than the 2009 total, and the most for any year since 2004.

THIBODAUX – Nicholls State University’s total enrollment has increased steadily over the past four years – an encouraging sign, administrators say, especially given the institution’s record number of graduates this past fall.

THIBODAUX – The Executive Master of Business Administration program at Nicholls State University is making a significant impact on the south Louisiana business community. Increasing popularity has resulted in capacity classes for the first time, and area businesses that referred employees to the program in the past are now referring more.

THIBODAUX – The Office of Continuing Education at Nicholls State University will offer a variety of non-credit courses during spring 2010. Featured areas of instruction include computers; finance; test preparation and certification programs; and special interest courses.

THIBODAUX – The entire region is invited to the second annual Louisiana Swamp Stomp Festival – a musical celebration of south Louisiana culture slated for Friday, March 12, through Sunday, March 14, at Nicholls State University.
