FINANCIAL AID

FAFSA Processing Update for 2024-25 Academic Year

The financial aid journey for students like you – those looking to enroll in college in Fall 2024 – has been one of the most unusual in recent memory. These changes are meant to make applying easier and help more students get aid. However, considerable delays and technical glitches have been introduced. The Department of Education has released that FAFSA data will not be shared with schools until mid-March.

What’s New and What It Means

The updates are big – the biggest in 40 years! Find out more information on these changes by visiting our FAFSA Simplification Webpage.

How to Handle the Wait

  • Keep Up-to-Date: Watch for emails and check Nicholls for the latest on FAFSA and when you’ll hear about your aid.
  • Ask Us Questions: Got concerns or need advice on other ways to pay for college? Our Financial Aid Office is here to help.
  • Look for Other Aid: Don’t forget about scholarships, private loans, and payment plans as other ways to fund your education.
  • Be Ready to Adjust: You might need to wait a bit longer than usual to make your college choice. We recommend being flexible with your planning.

We understand that the cost of education is a significant consideration for students and their families. We know this delay is frustrating in your decision-making process. If you have any questions please contact our office.
