About the Nicholls Post Office
Welcome to the Nicholls Post Office information guide. Our purpose is to provide quality and efficient postal services to Nicholls students, faculty and staff.
Nicholls State University’s Post Office is a contract postal unit of the United States Postal Service and is located in the Donald G. Bollinger Student Union. We provide students, faculty and staff with the information needed to process their incoming and outgoing mail in the most timely and cost effective service available.
Why do I need A Post Office Box while I’m here at Nicholls?
- You plan on receiving mail or packages
- USPS does NOT deliver mail or packages to Residence Halls or the Brady Complex
- You want a safe and secure place to receive your mail and packages
We currently offer two types of boxes. You can rent either a Combination or Key Entry box. If you request a Key Entry box, a $10 deposit is required and will be charged one time to your banner account. The key deposit will be returned to you once the key is returned. There is no deposit for combination boxes.
Students wishing to acquire a post office box can either come to the Post Office and fill out the new box application or fill out the online Post Office Box Application and have the fee added to their invoice. This fee will be added to your tuition and other fees. *NOTE: Post Office boxes cannot be shared, if so each party will be charged for use of the post office box.
NOTE: Every Fall your box will automatically renew for another year when you register for classes. If you no longer need your box and wish to close it you must come to the Nicholls Post Office and do a change of address form and return your key if applicable.
Please be reminded that mail and packages will only be released to the person that is listed as the addressee. Mail and packages will not be released otherwise.
Rental Rates For One Year
$35 – Students, Graduate Students, Student Organizations, Staff and Retirees
$45 – Campus Departments
$50 – Agencies/Programs housed on campus
$50 – Customers not affiliated with Nicholls
General Delivery Mail
Letters and packages received for students with no post office boxes will be held in General Delivery for 30 days, and if unclaimed after this set time, will be returned to sender.

- International Mail (For packages: declarations must be filled out online at www.usps.com and must be provided at time of shipment.)

- Return Receipt
- Postal Money Orders cashed up to $50, but not provided
- COD’s accepted, but not provided
We do not cash checks, provide money orders, or provide any information on the contents of post office boxes.

Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
* Except on Holidays listed below.
Monday – Friday: 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday: 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Sunday: 5 – 9 p.m.
Holiday Closure and Lobby Hours
The Nicholls Post Office is closed for the following holidays with limited lobby access of 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.

- Thanksgiving Holiday Break
- Christmas and New Year Holiday Break
*Check the Post Office lobby for posted dates for package and mail pick up during Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday Breaks.
Any changes in the hours of operation will be posted in the Nicholls Post Office lobby or the Student Inside.
