Pell Grants available for summer 2010
THIBODAUX – Students at Nicholls State University may be eligible to receive Pell Grant funds for the summer 2010 sessions.
Nicholls updates registration policy
THIBODAUX – Effective fall 2010, Nicholls State University will implement new registration procedures that will result in payment penalties for late registration and late payments. The goal is to encourage students to commit to the courses they schedule during registration and to discourage late registration – thus resulting in more effective course management for the university.
Nicholls dean appointed to State Board of Nursing
THIBODAUX – Dr. Sue Westbrook, dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Health at Nicholls State University, became the newest member of the Louisiana State Board of Nursing on Friday, March 26.
Nicholls and Fletcher announce collaborative plan
THIBODAUX – Nicholls State University and Fletcher Technical Community College formally presented a collaborative plan to the Louisiana Board of Regents today. The plan provides greater efficiencies and effectiveness for students in south central Louisiana by establishing transfer agreements, designating specific transfer/cross enrollment to bachelor’s degrees and allocating shared facilities, resources and services.
ConocoPhillips donates $5,100 to Nicholls
ConocoPhillips donated $5,100 to the Nicholls State University Foundation in February to supplement the petroleum services and safety technology programs.
Nicholls gears for annual alumni meeting and crawfish boil
THIBODAUX – The Nicholls State University Alumni Federation Annual Meeting / Crawfish Boil is slated for Saturday, April 17, in the Cotillion Ballroom of the Bollinger Memorial Student Union.
Benoit to headline lecture series at Nicholls
THIBODAUX – The 2010 Bonnie Bourg Lecture Series and Women’s History Luncheon and Awards Presentation at Nicholls State University will feature Nicholls graduate Michelle Benoit, writer, producer and director of numerous films and documentaries including “Willie Frances Must Die Again,” “Haunted Waters Fragile Lands” and “Good for What Ails You.”
Nicholls students excel at national sales competition
THIBODAUX – Two students from Nicholls State University, both pursuing a master’s degree in business, earned champion standing at the 2010 National Collegiate Sales Competition, hosted by Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Ga.
Nicholls Swamp Stomp attendance nearly doubles in fest’s second year
The 2nd annual Louisiana Swamp Stomp Festival at Nicholls State University attracted about 2,700 people, nearly double the festival’s 2009 attendance.
Acclaimed pianist to perform at Nicholls
THIBODAUX – Internationally acclaimed pianist and composer Dmitri Levkovich is scheduled to perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 28, in Nicholls State University’s Talbot Theater. Admission is $10 per person at the door – free for faculty, staff and students.
