General Science Education

Our hypothesis … The Nicholls general science education program offers excellent preparation to prospective teachers who want to help students develop critical thinking skills.

A combination of education and science courses, offered through the Department of Biological Sciences and the Department of Applied Sciences, offers majors hands-on experience both in laboratories and in classrooms. Majors are required to take varied courses in biology, chemistry, geology, geography, physical science and chemistry. Education courses prepare majors to write lesson plans, utilize effective instructional methods and manage a high school science classroom or laboratory.
