Communications Intern

The Water Institute of the Gulf is seeking a part-time (average 15 hours per week) Communications Intern to assist in internal and external communications. This position works closely with, and reports to, the Director of Communications.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates, designs, and sends out weekly internal newsletter
- Contributes to the upkeep of the Institute website and social media when requested by Director of Communications
- Helps with the preparation and formatting of grant proposal materials
- Provides staffing and help with set up and break down for events
- Assembles packets of information on request for external or internal communications
- Assists with photography and writing for promotional materials
- Updates the Institute’s photo sharing site
- Maintains running list of publications, media mentions, and press releases
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Knowledge of Word, basic internet, and social media
- Strong time management skills, highly organized, and detail-oriented
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Pursing college/university degree in related field
- Graphic capabilities a plus
