Times-Picayune | The Advocate is looking for an experienced journalist to lead our sports coverage for Louisiana’s largest news organization. We’re searching for someone to help us build upon our reputation as the go-to source for sports fans of all kinds in a competitive media landscape. The LSU Tigers, the New Orleans Saints, the Pelicans – all provide ample opportunity for anyone interested in taking charge of a great journalism franchise.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan daily and enterprise Sports coverage
- Help develop strategies to build digital and print readership
- Work with reporters and other desks to maintain timely and robust digital coverage
- Understand digital metrics and help the company meet its digital goals
- Edit stories and rework them as needed
- Mentor reporters to help develop their careers
- Handle administrative tasks
Job Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- Ability to work some nights and holidays
- A focus on producing accurate and factual stories
- Experience as a newspaper editor or reporter
- Proficiency with computers and other office equipment
