The Communication Program at the University of Louisiana Monroe is undergoing positive change and while it currently offers a B.A. with three concentrations and a M.A. in Communication, it will soon have only two undergraduate concentrations, one in Media & Communication and the other in Communication Studies, and a M.A. with a Strategic Communication focus. We seek applications for a full-time, 9-month, Assistant Professor of Communication with a strong understanding of the Communication discipline, and the ability to teach in the Media & Communication concentration. The successful candidate will teach primarily Public Relations courses and should have specialized knowledge in writing and presenting across various media platforms. The successful candidate may also be responsible for teaching several Communication core courses on a rotating basis; these include Public Speaking, Fundamentals of Communication & Interpersonal Communication. The position requires teaching four classes per semester, providing service to the institution, and engaging in scholarly research and/or creative work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach four courses per semester, at both the undergraduate and graduate level, including courses such as Principles of Public Relations, Public Relations Writing, Public Relations Campaigns, and Writing for Professional Communication.
  • Teach in multiple formats including face-to-face, hybrid, and online
  • Regularly assess courses as determined by program assessment plan and SACSCOC
  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students
  • Advise student organizations 
  • Actively participate in student recruitment
  • Serve on committees and provide other needed service to the institution
