Community Engagement Coordinator

Epidemiology @ Tulane University | New Orleans

Summary
This position will support the Church Based Health Intervention to Eliminate Racial Inequalities in Cardiovascular Health (CHERISH) study by developing and executing community engagement activities for church and participant recruitment and retention. The Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) is responsible for managing and supporting community-based outreach and engagement activities and building capacity for sustainable community collaborations focused on improving the health of underserved communities. The candidate utilizes knowledge of the community and relationships with local community partners to assist in the management and execution of the CHERISH study aimed at minimizing health disparities and optimizing health and wellness for all community members. Utilizes social media and similar platforms to enhance distribution of services and educational materials. This position will also support the CHERISH study on various administrative tasks as needed.

  • Ability to work with multicultural communities, including coordination of community outreach activities and in working with agencies serving minorities
  • Leadership, communications, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills- Excellent oral and written communication skills

Required Background Check, Physical, and Drug Screening for Incumbents Who Have Contact or Exposure to Animals or Animal Tissues:

Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment. For identified jobs, a drug screening will also be required. The background investigation, required occupational health screening and any required drug screening will be conducted after a conditional employment offer has been extended.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in public health, health education, community health education, communications, psychology, social work, or other related field.
  • Two years of experience

  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may be considered.
