Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience | New Orleans
Position Overview:
The Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented professional to join its full-time staff as the Marketing & Communication Manager. Working closely with all staff members, this individual will oversee the museum’s marketing to local, regional, and national outlets, via social media, regular email and printed communications, paid advertisements, and earned media. A successful candidate will have exceptional multi-tasking skills, knowledge and experience in marketing and communications, and a strong interest in promoting the museum’s mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Marketing
- Ensure the museum’s stakeholders are kept informed of MSJE’s activities and impact via production of monthly newsletters, maintenance of website and digital presence, traditional earned media, social media channels, and targeted paid advertisement, using MSJE’s established voice and style
- Build relationships with key stakeholders to further the reach of MSJE in the community and identify opportunities for promotion and collaboration with other organizations
- Create and implement strategic plans to increase engagement, including museum visitors, donors, memberships, and visibility
Communications
- Serve as coordinator for all press interviews
- Write and distribute press releases; maintain and grow a list of appropriate press contacts
Graphic Design
- Design basic graphics in Canva for social media posts, events and programming, print and digital ads, mailers, and signage
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years working in marketing, communications, journalism, or transferable experience
- Experience working in the non-profit field appreciated
- Expertise in running social media campaigns, traditional media campaigns, and digital advertising campaigns (graphic design proficiency preferred)
- Experience with maintaining a CMS (WordPress preferred), Constant Contact, Canva, and Adobe Suite (or equivalents)
- Experience writing, editing, and proofreading content including press releases, articles, etc.
- Demonstrated graphic design skills
- Ability to appropriately prioritize and multitask while meeting deadlines
- Creative and resourceful; able to effectively manage resources
- Able to work a flexible schedule to include some weekends, holidays and special events
- Knowledge of and interest in Jewish history and culture
