Social Media Intern (unpaid)

New Orleans Public Library | New Orleans

The New Orleans Public Library seeks a student intern to produce social media content during summer 2025, with specific focus on the Summer Fun & Reading Challenge. The goal of this internship is to provide the Library with quality content in line with the Marketing Department’s goals and objectives, while giving the student solid pieces for their portfolio or summer internship project.

 

Job Hours: 10 – 20 hours, Mondays – Saturdays

 

Job Breakdown:

  • 20% planning – Create a weekly plan for content creation with assistance from the Media & Communications Coordinator
  • 15% coordinating – Recruit interested parties for content
  • 15% surveying – Collect data regarding the Library’s marketing efforts
  • 50% creation – Make social content

Skills & Experience:

  • Mass Communications, Social Media Marketing, Marketing, Communications, or related field of study
  • Strong creative, analytical, organizational, and personal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

 

The intern must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel between Library locations. The intern must provide their own social media equipment (i.e. phone, ring light).
