Communications and Marketing Coordinator

Summary

The Jefferson Chamber of Commerce is seeking a dynamic and creative Communications and Marketing Coordinator to lead our communications, outreach, and promotional efforts. This role is central to shaping and sharing our message with a broad and diverse audience, including media, members, local business leaders, elected officials, and economic development partners across the Greater New Orleans region.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, detail-oriented, and skilled in both traditional and digital media. You will play a key role in ensuring our brand, voice, and visuals align with the Chamber’s mission and strategic goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of written, digital, print and visual communications for the Jefferson Chamber, Jefferson Chamber Young Professionals (JCYP), the Jefferson Chamber Foundation and the Jefferson Chamber PAC
  •          Work closely with the Jefferson Chamber staff to ensure event graphics, signage, and other marketing items are effectively created and used
  •          Oversee the creation, editing, and approval of all public-facing content including press releases, blog/news posts, newsletters, email blasts, social media posts, and more
  •          Supervise production of Chamber’s annual publication, the Jefferson Review, by collecting, organizing, and transferring written content and photographs to local publishing company
  •         Maintain engaging and up-to-date content across social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube)
  •         Maintain all website content on the Jefferson Chamber, Jefferson Chamber PAC, and LiveWell Jefferson websites using WordPress knowledge
  •         Develop and follow an annual communications plan
  •         Create ad content and communicate with the Chamber’s external design agency for design needs to ensure deadlines are met and maximum promotion of events is achieved
  •         Manage email communications using Constant Contact, including daily e-blasts and segmented messaging
  •         Coordinate media relations and press coverage for signature Chamber events; cultivate strong relationships with local media 
  •         Ensure all events are photographed; organize and archive event photography
  •         Update sponsorship and membership guides annually and as needed
  •         Assist with other special projects such as US Chamber Accreditation and award submissions

General Responsibilities

  •         Attend Chamber networking events, as needed
  •         Assist with and help manage Chamber functions on and off site
  •         Perform all other duties as assigned by the President

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in the field of communications, advertising, marketing or PR preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically InDesign and Photoshop)
  • Proficient with Constant Contact
  • Basic WordPress knowledge preferred
  • Excellent written, oral, and editing skills
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and time management are required
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with the Greater New Orleans business and civic community is a plus
  • Networking skills and ability to represent the Jefferson Chamber favorably
  •          Flexibility with schedule and ability to work events during and outside of normal working hours is required
  •          Ability to work in a team environment to achieve the goals of the organization as a whole
