Videographer & Photographer

Louisiana SPCA | New Orleans

The Videographer & Photographer is responsible for visually capturing the stories of animals, programs, and people at the Louisiana SPCA. This role leads the creation of compelling photo and video content to promote adoptions as well as clinic services, engage supporters, train volunteers, and grow the organization’s digital presence.

  5. Data-Driven Strategy – Performance analytics are used to refine and strengthen visual content and social engagement. 

Position Summary 

The Videographer & Photographer is a creative visual storyteller who brings the mission of the Louisiana SPCA to life through photography and video. This role collaborates across departments to gather powerful stories and produce multimedia content for digital platforms, campaigns, and events. From training volunteers in best practices in visual storytelling to tracking engagement analytics and supporting community outreach efforts, this role is central to strengthening the Louisiana SPCA’s public presence. 

Key Responsibilities 

1. Storytelling & Content Development 

  • Lead story and content collection efforts across the organization working with teams to uncover and visually document meaningful moments. 
  • Develop visual storytelling strategies that reflect the mission and inspire community support and action. 
  • Translate internal success stories into emotionally resonant content for external audiences. 
  • Provides images and content to enhance grant funding requests and update reports that amplifies impact and showcases donation dollars at work. 

2. Multimedia Production 

  • Produce professional-quality photos and videos for use across digital platforms, fundraising campaigns, adoption profiles, and events. 
  • Edit photo and video content for use on social media, websites, newsletters, and other digital or print touchpoints. 

3. Volunteer Collaboration & Training 

  • Train and coach volunteers in capturing effective visual content organization shelter or personal devices. 
  • Create reference guides and visual templates to ensure consistency and quality across all content contributors. 
  • Review and curate volunteer-submitted content, providing guidance and feedback for improvement. 

4. Analytics & Performance Monitoring 

  • Track and analyze content performance metrics (views, shares, engagement, etc.) to assess effectiveness. 
  • Stay up to date with platform-specific trends, algorithm changes, and best practices to optimize visual strategy. 
  • Report regularly on content performance and audience insights to inform content planning and campaign decisions. 

5. Community Engagement & Event Coverage 

  • Provide real-time coverage of adoption/clinic events, fundraisers, and outreach activities through photos, video, and live content. 
  • Capture and share authentic, in-the-moment content that reflects the energy and mission of the organization. 
  • Partner with community stakeholders and influencers to cross-promote initiatives and amplify our collective impact. 
 
Requirements

Education and Experience:  

  • 2+ years of videography and photography experience  
  • BS/BA preferred  

Minimum Qualifications, Skills or Knowledge:  

  • Proficient with DSLR camera and other video and photo capturing technology 
  • Deep understanding of pre- and post-production video techniques. 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop) or similar editing tools 

Additional Qualifications 

  • Portfolio demonstrating experience in photography and videography 
  • Strong storytelling instincts with a passion for mission-driven content 
  • Familiarity with social media best practices, trends, and analytics tools 
  • Comfortable working around animals of all sizes and temperaments 
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills 
  • Experience mentoring or training others is a plus 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds; push and pull heavy objects; bend, twist, reach; perform strenuous physical activities including frequent walking and running, standing, bending, and stooping.
  • Should not be allergic to animals or nuts; must be able to work around all animals and nut products. 
  • Must be able to work with industrial strength cleaners and disinfectants.

Salary Range 

$50,000 – $55,000 DOE
