Faculty members teaching online have the option to use a remote proctoring service. ProctorU is available for faculty who want to have their students take a test by a remote proctor. There is no cost to the University, but a cost-per-test for the students. If you do require proctoring of any kind in your courses, it must be listed as a WWP section.

Tip #1: Limit the number of exams that require ProctorU to less than four a term to reduce this cost.
Tip #2: Provide ProctorU and your students with the dates of your testing as early as possible.
Tip #3: You also need to provide a testing center option for students that are unwilling to pay for or use ProctorU. See document under Faculty Resources.

If you plan on using this service, please add a statement on your syllabus about how you plan on using it. An example is listed below:

ProctorU is a live online proctoring service that allows you to take your exam from the comfort of your home. ProctorU is available 24/7, however, you will need to schedule your proctoring session at least 72 hours in advance to avoid any on-demand scheduling fees. Creating a ProctorU account is very simple. You can do so by visiting go.proctoru.com.
In order to use ProctorU, you will need to have a high-speed internet connection, a webcam (internal or external), a windows or apple Operating System, and a government issued photo id. ProctorU recommends that you visit https://test.webrtc.org/ prior to your proctoring session to test your equipment. We highly recommend you can click on the button that says “connect to a live person” to fully test out your equipment. Please make sure that you are using the current version of Chrome/Firefox.

You should expect the startup process with the proctor to take about 10-15 minutes. However, this time will not affect your exam time. Please feel free to direct any questions to the student support team via the live chat within your account.
