External Scholarships

The following scholarships and resources are currently available from outside the university.  These scholarships are not affiliated with the Office of Financial Aid at Nicholls State University or Nicholls State University.  Before you visit the following sites, please read this Scholarship Scam Notice from the Smart Student Guide to Financial Aid.

The Geaux Teach scholarship program, administered by LOSFA, was established to provide scholarships to students who are enrolled in teacher preparation programs or alternate certification programs approved by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) at postsecondary education institutions within the state. To be eligible, students must:  be a United States citizen and if required, registered with the Selective Service; be a Louisiana resident for at least two years prior to July 1 immediately preceding the academic year of enrollment; have at least a 2.50 cumulative GPA; be enrolled full time in an approved teacher preparation program or alternate certification program. The Louisiana Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (LASFAA) will award up to five (5) $400 Mildred D. The Charles B. Staats Memorial Foundation (CBSMF) Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating high school senior, who is also a swim coach.   The Scholarship is open to any student in the US who meets the criteria. The CBSMF Scholarship was specifically created to honor the love of coaching and acknowledge the importance of coaching in a swimmer’s life. Most of all, we want a student who loves being a swim coach.  The CBSMF Scholarship award may be used towards the costs of:  tuition, books, room and board and mandatory school fees. The Maude and Alexander Hadden Scholarship is awarded to exceptionally worthy high school seniors with demonstrated financial need, for up to four years of college undergraduate study. Hadden Scholars must be U.S. citizens matriculating at a four-year accredited college or university established in the United States. In awarding Hadden Scholarships, Youth Foundation considers scholastic achievement, character, leadership, volunteerism, and financial need. There is a minimum unweighted GPA requirement of 3.5 to apply for a Hadden Scholarship. There is no minimum test score requirement, but past winners have had competitive scores. The Tony Coelho Media Scholarship will offer eight (8) scholarships to be used in the Fall semester of 2026. High school seniors, undergraduate, and graduate students with disabilities who are pursuing careers in media, communications, or entertainment industries that will be enrolled in college or a university during Fall 2026 are eligible. AAU Karate Michael Eggleston Sr. Memorial Scholarships are awarded annually to a young man and a young woman who have participated in AAU Karate for a minimum of one (1) year. No other applications will be accepted. Applications may be submitted to AAU Karate on behalf of an applicant that meets the qualifications, and (a) will be attending an accredited undergraduate college or university for the academic year beginning in the Fall, or (b) are presently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate college or university.
