The following scholarships and resources are currently available from outside the university.  These scholarships are not affiliated with the Office of Financial Aid at Nicholls State University or Nicholls State University.  Before you visit the following sites, please read this Scholarship Scam Notice from the Smart Student Guide to Financial Aid.

OnPath Foundation will be awarding 25 $1000 scholarships to eligible Louisiana 2026 high school seniors!  To qualify, applicants must be a high school senior living in Louisiana.  Strong involvement in community service and extracurricular activities must be demonstrated.  Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA and must be accepted into an accredited 2 or 4 years university, college, or trade school.  Applicants must also be an OnPath Credit Union member or willing to become a member.  The deadline to apply is March 31, 2026.  Apply Now!

Applications are now being accepted for the Thibodaux City Marshal Calvin Cooks, Sr. Scholarship Program. All eligible students in the City of Thibodaux/Ward 2 area are encouraged to apply.  Two (2) $500 scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school students who are planning to attend Nicholls State University or Fletcher Technical Community College.  Applicants must be a permanent resident of the City of Thibodaux/Ward 2 area and must be eligible for admission to the school indicated on the application. The award will only be paid for attendance at one of the aforementioned qualifying institutions as a full-time, undergraduate student.  Scholarship application forms can be obtained by emailing Marshal Calvin Cooks, Sr. at calvin.cooksvz@gmail.com. The Downtown Houma Rotary Club Scholarship is designed to support senior high school students from first generation college families with limited financial support who are committed to completing their education and pursuing their goals.  The scholarship is open to current Senior High School students (Grade 12) or full time 1 st year undergraduates at an accredited college or university.  Students must be maintaining satisfactory academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or higher.  Applicants must demonstrate financial need and be of good character.  The final deadline to apply is April 15, 2026Apply Now!  Printed application must be returned to Downtown Houma Rotary 132 Port Royal Way Houma, La. 70360

Sheriff Craig Webre, on behalf of the Louisiana Sheriffs Association, awards a $1,000 annual scholarship to provide assistance to worthy students in furthering their education and training with resources made available through the program. Each applicant must meet the following qualifications: graduating high school student; permanent resident of Lafourche Parish; planning to attend (and eligible for admission to) Nicholls State University or L.E. Fletcher Technical Community College. The award will only be paid for attendance at one of the aforementioned qualifying institutions as a full-time, undergraduate student. In Carol Meyer’s memory, the Louisiana Association of Teachers of Mathematics is pleased to award two $500.00 Carol Meyer Scholarship awards each year to college upperclassmen with a declared major in elementary education, mathematics education, or mathematics. In addition to the scholarship, the awardees shall receive complimentary LATM student memberships. RSEA of Louisiana is pleased to announce it will award scholarships of $1,000 to students attending an accredited Louisiana institute of education. The qualifications for the scholarship are as follows: the student’s parents/grandparents must be members of RSEA and have continuous membership for three consecutive years; the student must be currently enrolled full-time or accepted and plan to enroll full-time at an accredited Louisiana school with a GPA of at least 2.5. The student must submit a written statement expressing their financial need for the scholarship, and must submit two personal letters of reference, with at least one from an academic advisor. The statement must include their educational/career goals.  The student must also submit their current ACT or SAT score, as well as a school transcript and finally, their signed application. The American Culinary Federation Education Foundation, with the support of the American Academy of Chefs (AAC), is pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships annually to students.  To view the scholarships offered and to apply visit here.  The deadlines can vary and range from April 30 to October 31 each year.

The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation awards more than $1 million in scholarships to individuals pursuing a post-secondary degree in the restaurant, foodservice, and hospitality industry.  The scholarship is currently open to students for 26-27.  The deadline to apply is March 15, 2026.  Apply Now!

The Shell Technical Scholarship was created to provide financial and career assistance to graduating high school seniors who have expressed an interest in the energy industry and demonstrated an aptitude in mathematics and science. Le Petit Theatre de Terrebonne is announcing a new round of applications for its two scholarship programs.  The Gerald Daigle Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of long time Le Petit board member and supporter, Gerald Daigle. The scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen who will be studying an arts-related field including music, dance, communication arts, theatre, culinary arts, etc. The scholarship is open to all high school seniors who either reside in Terrebonne Parish or whose parents, spouse, and/or legal guardian(s) reside in Terrebonne Parish. The $600 per year scholarship is paid in two equal payments upon receipt of proof of college registration. The Castagnos Scholarship was sponsored by Mrs. James Buquet in honor of Mrs. Hazel Felix Castagnos. It is open to any Nicholls State University student who has completed at least one year at NSU and is majoring in a fine arts field. Special consideration for the $1,000 per annum award will be given to Terrebonne Parish applicants, or applicants whose parents or guardians reside in Terrebonne Parish. JOY Literacy Foundation will award scholarships to literacy teachers-in-training. College sophomores and juniors majoring in education with a focus on literacy are invited to apply during the spring semester. Applications should be submitted during the spring semester to be considered for the following academic year. The scholarship is exclusively for qualified tuition. The SIPES Foundation awards scholarships annually to upper-division and graduate students studying earth science. Since its inception in 1981, the Foundation has awarded more than half a million dollars to 291 outstanding students. Applications are accepted each year from students majoring in any earth science, geophysics, petroleum or geological engineering who are enrolled in a U.S.-based university or college, have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher and are U.S. citizens. The Renewed Horizons Scholarship aims to empower single parents who are committed to furthering their education and improving their family’s future. This scholarship is available to eligible solo parents pursuing a college degree and offers an award of $1,000 per semester. ValueCPR is proud to present the Value CPR Foundation Scholarship Program for students aspiring to study or currently studying healthcare or education. To apply, qualifying students must submit a 500- to 750-word essay describing what motivates them in their career aspirations, and why they want to pursue or are currently studying for a healthcare- or education-related degree. IFSEA Worthy Goal Scholarships are typically awarded in the amounts between $500 to $2500 on an annual basis to students enrolled in an accredited food service/hospitality, or other related degree, at an institution of higher education.  The scholarship may be used for the purpose of paying tuition and other mandatory fees related to pursuing an accredited degree in Food Service or Hospitality Management. The Quell Foundation Fighter Scholarship is awarded to select high school seniors or current undergraduate/graduate students that are being treated for a diagnosed mental health condition. The Quell Foundation Awareness Fund established the award to improve the care and treatment of people with mental health challenges. The Love Your Career Scholarship is open to any student who will be enrolled in a college or University at the time of the next deadline (see dates below). This scholarship is limited to students attending school in the 50 U.S. states. Sertoma’s Scholarship for the Hard of Hearing or Deaf, is the leading scholarship for hard of hearing or deaf students since the program’s inception in 1994. Students with clinically significant bilateral hearing loss, graduating from high school, or undergraduate students pursuing four-year college degrees in any discipline are eligible for the scholarship. The Chief Petty Officer Scholarship fund is open to candidates who possess a GED, be a graduating high school senior or a high school graduate intending to enter, or an undergraduate student currently enrolled in an accredited and degree granting institution of higher learning, including post-secondary Vocational Institutions and must be a dependent child (natural or adopted), step-child, or a non-uniformed spouse (registered in DEERS) of a US Navy Active Duty, Retired, Honorably Discharged, Reserve or deceased Chief, Senior Chief, or Master Chief Petty Officer of the United States Navy.
