External Scholarships

The following scholarships and resources are currently available from outside the university.  These scholarships are not affiliated with the Office of Financial Aid at Nicholls State University or Nicholls State University.  Before you visit the following sites, please read this Scholarship Scam Notice from the Smart Student Guide to Financial Aid.

The Geaux Teach scholarship program, administered by LOSFA, was established to provide scholarships to students who are enrolled in teacher preparation programs or alternate certification programs approved by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) at postsecondary education institutions within the state. To be eligible, students must:  be a United States citizen and if required, registered with the Selective Service; be a Louisiana resident for at least two years prior to July 1 immediately preceding the academic year of enrollment; have at least a 2.50 cumulative GPA; be enrolled full time in an approved teacher preparation program or alternate certification program. The purpose of the American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association Scholarship program is to provide scholarships to members of the ASHBA, 21 years of age and under, at grade 11 or higher, who demonstrate financial need, have participated in ASHBA Youth Programs, and show a commitment to the American Saddlebred industry in their pursuit of academic success. Scholarships will be awarded only to applicants on the basis of submitted evidence of academic success, financial need, extracurricular activities (including community service), involvement with American Saddlebred horses, and personal references. The HIE Help Center will award one annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to an undergraduate or graduate student who plans to pursue a career in physical, occupational, or speech therapy. The American Association of State Troopers Foundation, Inc. accepts scholarship applications from the dependents of trooper members for assistance with their post-secondary education expenses. Dependents are defined as: child by natural birth, child legally adopted, stepchild, or child raised as a member’s own (claimed as a dependent on income tax).  For a student to be eligible, their AAST member parent must have been a member in good standing for two (2) consecutive years prior to the July 31 application deadline for the year the student is applying.
