Intern – Social Media

M.S. Rau is looking for an Intern – Social Media who will work closely with our Social Media Specialist to create, manage, and engage with our online community. This is a remote, part-time position with an ideal schedule of two hours per day.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Community Management & Engagement: Monitor and engage with comments and direct messages on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter using Sprout Social. Maintain a quick and friendly response time to all inquiries.
  • Content Assistance: Support the Social Media Specialist by tagging and categorizing content in Sprout Social to help track performance and identify trends.
  • Content Distribution: Assist with publishing marketing videos from various social platforms to our YouTube channel and update Pinterest with fresh content, including blog posts and product collections.
Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

  • Education: A degree or current enrollment in a degree program related to marketing, communications, social media or a similar field is preferred.
  • Experience: We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate a passion for social media through personal projects, volunteer work, or relevant coursework. This could include managing a personal blog, running a social media account for a club, or completing a related academic project.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Social Media Savvy: You’ll need to know how different social media platforms operate, including their best practices and trends. You should also have an understanding of what makes content engaging and shareable.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written communication is crucial for responding to comments and direct messages. You need to be able to communicate in a professional, brand-appropriate voice.
  • Organizational Skills: Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks is important.
  • Tool Familiarity: While direct experience with a specific tool like Sprout Social is a plus, it’s not a requirement. The ability to quickly learn new software is often more important.
  • Creative Thinking: Being able to generate ideas for new content and engaging Pins on Pinterest will set a candidate apart.
  • Bonus Skills: Basic knowledge of graphic design tools (like Canva) or video editing can be a great advantage, though not required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is an intern position. The intern will work remotely 10 hours per week with the requirement to come on site once a week. This position pays $15 per hour. There may be need for additional hours as needed within the flexibility of the intern. Local candidates only please.
