2015 Alumni survey highlights

Highlights from the 2015 Nicholls alumni survey include:

Demographics – 71% of 2015 alumni respondents were female, while 71% were non-Hispanic Caucasians. For a demographic comparison between one and five-year alumni, click here. For a comparison with the 2011 survey, click here.

Education – 78% of 2015 alumni respondents are not currently enrolled in a college or university. 62% responded “definitely yes” to a question asking whether their college experience had improved their quality of life, while 38% rated their preparation at Nicholls for an advanced degree as “excellent”. Employment – 78% of 2015 alumni respondents reported being employed full-time, with 70% employed in the field of their major field of study. 40% of respondents considered the preparation they received at Nicholls for their current job “excellent”. Helpfulness of Nicholls – The alumni survey asks respondents to related the degree of helpfulness Nicholls provided in developing their skills in a variety of areas. 80% of alumni reported that Nicholls was “helpful” or “very helpful” in developing their “ability to write well”, 87% in developing their “ability to use critical thinking skills”, and 72% regarding their “ability to use mathematical concepts”. Satisfaction with Campus Facilities & Services – The alumni survey concludes by asking respondents their level of satisfaction with different campus offices and facilities during their tenure at Nicholls, ranging from the bookstore to the library and counseling center. Prominent findings from the 2015 survey include:

  •  Academic advising was used by 99% of 2015 respondents, making it the most commonly used service. For a full list of the percentage of respondents using campus services, click here.
  •  91% of respondents that utilized residence halls at Nicholls reported being either “satisfied” or “very satisfied”, which is the highest level of satisfaction of any campus service.
